OFF-WHITE TO BEIGE CRYSTALLINE POWDER AND CHUNKS

Uses

4-Aminophenylmercuric Acetate used in combination with heparin is said to be effective in activating matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) in peripheral blood of healthy humans, according to biological studies.

Biochem/physiol Actions

An organomercurial activator of matrix metalloproteinases.

Safety Profile

Poison by intravenous and intraperitoneal routes. See also MERCURY COMPOUNDS, ANILINE. When heated to decomposition it emits very toxic fumes of NO, and Hg.

Purification Methods

Recrystallise it from hot dilute AcOH and dry it in air. Highly TOXIC. [Mahapatra et al. J Indian Chem Soc 32 613 1955, Albert & Schneider Justus Liebigs Ann Chem 465 269 1928, Beilstein 16 III 1411, 16 IV 1754.]
